Questions and answers

Who can benefit from hair transplantation?

The essence of hair transplantation depends on the existing condition of the hairs on the back of the head and their individual characteristics. In patients who have a sufficient amount and quality of donor area (donor area from which the hairs to be transplanted are extracted) on the back of the head, hair transplantation can be fully applied and performed, providing a perfect final result of 100%.

How can you determine if someone is suitable for hair transplantation?

Before a hair transplant procedure is performed, a personal consultation with the operating institute is always necessary. During the consultation, a personalized examination and a complete assessment of the patient's condition are performed, and it is also determined whether the patient can undergo a hair transplant procedure, what options are available, and what results can be expected after the surgery.

How does a personal consultation work?

During the consultation, we examine the problematic (hair-deficient, balding) area, and we also determine the amount of hair that is absolutely necessary to achieve the desired aesthetic result. When planning the intervention, it is very important to take into account the patient's individual characteristics in the donor area (quality and quantity, color, density of the hair). When determining the amount of hair to be transplanted - in addition to professional foundations and many other factors - the patient's individual ideas and financial capabilities must also be taken into account! Before hair transplantation, it must also be precisely determined what the planned amount of hair is enough for, what density is expected after the surgery, how large the area will be transplanted, and whether further intervention may be necessary later.

How much does a hair transplant cost and what are the costs?

Hair transplantation – like all aesthetic procedures – is one of the more expensive surgeries. Prices vary all over the world, and are set individually by each clinic within their own jurisdiction. Some clinics charge per hair or graft, while others charge per package. The final cost of the procedure and the total cost of the surgery are determined by the number of hairs to be transplanted and the procedure used.

Why is it worth choosing hair transplantation?

the patient's own hair is transplanted

the intervention results in a permanent and guaranteed solution

The surgery is completely pain-free and risk-free.

a natural way to restore fuller hair

Surgeons specializing in hair transplantation perform the procedure

The grafts are implanted one by one, leaving no trace of the procedure.

The transplanted hair follicles remain forever, so the hairs do not fall out.

free assessment and consultation before the intervention

There are no cuts, stitches, or scalp removal during the surgery, and no scars or wounds remain.

the desired hair density is achieved in almost all cases, so the result is guaranteed up to 100%

Will there be any trace of the procedure in the donor area?

No, there will be no permanent marks or scars after the surgery. If the procedure is repeated several times, the density and quantity of hair in the donor area may naturally decrease, but not so much that it is noticeable.

How is the surgery performed? Is the procedure performed under anesthesia?

It is an outpatient surgery, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so there is no anesthesia. After the anesthetic injection (both in the donor and transplanted areas) the scalp area is completely numb, after which the patient will not feel any pain during the surgery. Depending on the amount of hair to be transplanted, it is a 1 or 2-day procedure, the two-day surgery is of course performed on two consecutive days.

Will there be any visible difference in the implanted area compared to the other hairs?

No, there will be no visible difference. Since your own hair is being transplanted, the transplanted hairs will not differ from the original or stand out. The hairs extracted from the back of your head may be slightly thicker – as they have resisted the hormonal effects of DHT – but this minimal difference is only visible under video-microscopic magnification. The transplanted hairs will gradually grow back, so your friends will only notice that your hair is slowly starting to grow back in the previously bald, hairless area.

How painful is the procedure?

The entire surgery is performed under local anesthesia by injection, both during hair extraction and hair transplantation. After the first anesthetic injections, the procedure is completely painless, so in general, it can be said that thanks to the anesthesia, the patient will not feel any pain during the surgery.

When is the earliest you can start work?

Thanks to the modern procedure, you can go back to work the day after the surgery, but we usually recommend a full week of regeneration and rest. It is therefore worth staying home for a week, but it is not mandatory, but intense physical activity, strenuous work, and activities should definitely be avoided for 2-3 weeks.

How long will it take to see results? When will the transplanted hairs grow out?

The implanted grafts (hair follicle units) are embedded in the new location of the scalp in about 3 days, during which time it is not recommended to consume cigarettes and coffee. After implantation, the transplanted hairs start growing immediately and grow for 3-5 weeks after implantation, after which they fall out. However, the transplanted hair follicle units remain in their new environment, where they enter a resting phase of 4-5 months. This is the regeneration time they need before they start producing new hairs, which slowly and gradually start growing. The final result is usually visible after a year, in the case of older people, this may only occur after 1.5 years.

When will the final result be visible?

After hair transplantation, the final hair growth reaches the desired result in the 11th - 12th month, and the newly transplanted hairs start to grow from about the 5th - 6th month. Since the angle of the rotor and the hairs can be adjusted during the procedure, the transplanted hair will have a completely natural effect. In the future, it can be cut, shaped, dried, dyed, etc. in the same way as the original hair.

How natural will the transplanted hair look after the procedure?

During the hair transplant procedure, the operating surgeon precisely follows the direction and angle of the original hair, so the transplanted hair will look completely natural, and it will be impossible to tell which is the original and which is the transplanted hair. The color and thickness of the hair groups extracted and transplanted are determined by the properties of the hairs in the donor area.

How is hair transplantation performed?

During hair transplantation, hair follicles (hair follicle units, i.e. grafts) extracted from the patient's own existing hair stock are transplanted to the balding area. The hairs on the back of the head are not sensitive, they are completely immune to the hormonal changes caused by the so-called DHT responsible for androgenic alopecia, and therefore they never fall out. After hair transplantation, they retain this property in their new location and behave in the same way as in the original environment from which they were extracted, i.e. they do not react to hormonal changes and do not fall out, they remain for the rest of their lives.

Can someone else's hair be transplanted? Is it possible to receive donor hair from someone else?

No! During hair transplantation, only the patient's own existing hair can be transplanted, because during the procedure, the small tissue cylinders around the hairs are also transplanted along with the hairs, so the body rejects the foreign hair or tissue. It is also very important that the thickness, color and type of the hairs are the same. The hairs to be transplanted, more precisely the hair follicle units (i.e. the grafts) are transplanted from the back of the head (donor area) to the desired area, i.e. the thinning, hair-deficient or completely bald head area.

Can transplanted hair fall out?

No, this is impossible! Because the hair transplanted from the nape of the neck (donor area) is insensitive, that is, immune to the so-called DHT hormone that causes androgenic alopecia, so they will never fall out again. They will remain for the rest of their lives and behave in the same way as in their previous place. So as long as there is a sufficient amount and density of hair in the donor area, these hair follicles will be transplanted. Hair transplantation is therefore a permanent solution for those who struggle with baldness and hair thinning, and the perfect end result is guaranteed!

Can the balding area spread further in the future?

The transplanted hairs will remain permanently in their new location, but unfortunately we cannot stop the genetically natural balding process in other areas. However, there is no reason to worry, as the hair transplant procedure can be repeated at any time later in those areas that have started to thin further.

What is a donor area?

The so-called classic donor area is the hairy scalp area above the nape of the neck, between the two ears, about 10 cm wide. From here, intact, healthy hair follicles are extracted and transplanted to the desired area. In addition, hair can be transplanted from both sides of the head if there is no longer enough or adequate quality hair in the back of the neck.

How long does a hair transplant procedure take?

Depending on the amount of hair to be transplanted, the surgical procedure can last one or even two days, usually from 8 am to 5-6 pm. The morning begins with a short discussion with the operating physician, followed by a short haircut. After this, the procedure itself begins, which begins with local anesthesia of the donor area. Between the individual stages (extraction of hair follicles, hair transplantation), there is of course the opportunity to take short rest breaks, which are approx. 10-15 minutes long. Around noon, there is a longer (half an hour) lunch break, after which the surgery continues with the transplantation of the extracted hair groups.

How long does it take for the transplanted and donor areas to regenerate?

After the procedure, the implanted area may swell on the 2nd-3rd day, but this will gradually disappear after the anesthetic fluid is completely absorbed and leaves the body. The tiny surgical wounds will shrink and heal on their own within a few days, but slight redness may still be visible for a short time. Most of our patients return to work a week after the procedure, but it is definitely worth and advisable to stay home for 6-7 days to avoid infections and to allow for the regeneration process.

How soon is it possible to have another surgery?

This primarily depends on the donor area. If the hairs in the nape area are available in sufficient quantity and quality, the next procedure can be performed after 4-6 months at the earliest, but only if the new hair transplant is performed in a different area. If the goal is to further thicken the previously transplanted area, then you must wait at least a full year for the next procedure.

When and in which season is it worth having a hair transplant?

The time of year in which the procedure is performed does not actually affect the final result. Since it is not recommended to be in strong sunlight for 3-4 weeks after the procedure, excessive sunbathing or beaching should be avoided, and since no one wants to give up their vacation, it can be stated that the autumn-winter period is the most suitable for the surgery.

How short should the hair be cut before the procedure?

Hair cutting is always done by the assistants here at the clinic, right before the surgery, so you don't have to worry about it at home. In order for both hair extraction and hair transplantation to be maximally successful, it is worth cutting the hair short (1-2 mm) uniformly on the entire scalp - both the donor and recipient areas.

What should you pay special attention to after hair transplantation?

For a few days after the procedure, you should not lie on the implanted area, or put any pressure on it, or touch or scratch it, no matter how much it itches. On the day of the surgery and in the following few days, it is recommended to refrain from smoking, or at least reduce the daily cigarette intake slightly, and to avoid strong, spicy foods and alcohol! You should avoid excessively cold and hot environments, and for 3-4 weeks, we do not recommend saunas, solariums, swimming pools, sunbathing of the implanted area, or strenuous physical exertion or intensive sports.

Is any follow-up treatment necessary after surgery?

No medication or other medical follow-up is required after the procedure. However, it is very important that after the hair transplant, you should wash and rinse your hair twice a day (shower your head with lukewarm water) to help remove any secretions and small crusts from the scalp that may have formed during the surgery. You should also spray the transplanted area with a special saline solution that we provide for a few days, and wash your hair with a special shampoo that you also receive from our clinic.
